DuBreton pork is antibiotic-free, and our pigs are solely and exclusively vegetable grain-fed. Their diet consists of corn, soy meal, wheat, bread flour, peas, extruded soybeans and dietary supplements, namely vitamins and minerals. As a result, they do not consume any form of meat meal or animal fat. They are raised in an antibiotic-free environment through adulthood.
Besides being better for the health of you and your family, this is also better for the environment.
Canadian pork producers following conventional methods are allowed to use meat meal and a range of antibiotics. These antibiotics are often identical to those used in people. The more we use antibiotics, the easier it is for bacteria to build up resistance to them. Antibiotic-free farming consequently helps to minimize bacterial resistance to antibiotics.
