Creamy Crostini Topped with Pork, Pears, and Arugula

  • 300 g (2/3 lb) Extra lean ground pork
  • 4 large slices of crusty bread or 1 baguette, sliced
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp.) olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 225 g (1/2 lb.) Camembert cheese, sliced
  • 250 ml (1 cup) cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 2 fresh pears, cut into small pieces
  • Freshly ground pepper to taste
  • 250 ml (1 cup) baby arugula leaves, minced


  1. 1.Preheat oven to 230°C (450°F).
  2. 2.In a pan, heat oil over low heat and gently roast garlic.
  3. 3.Brush bread with a litlle garlic-flavoured oil.
  4. 4.Increase heat and add pork to pan. Cook thoroughly.
  5. 5.Top bread slices with Camembert and add cherry tomatoes, pears and cooked pork. Add pepper to taste.
  6. 6.Bake about 5 minutes or until cheese is hot and bread is crusty.
  7. 7.Sprinkle with arugula and serve immediately with soup.
