Grilled cheese with smoked ham and sweet pepper jam

  • 12 slices of Organic Sliced Cooked Ham
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp.) of butter
  • 250 ml (1 cup) of red pepper, diced
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp.) of white wine vinegar
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp.) of honey or maple syrup
  • Salt and fresh ground pepper
  • 8 slices of crusty bread
  • 120 g (4 oz.) of Swiss cheese, sliced
  • 250 ml (1 cup) of baby spinach or arugula


  1. 1.In a pan, melt the butter over medium heat and then brown the red pepper for 3 to 4 minutes.
  2. 2.Deglaze with the vinegar, add the sugar and season. Continue cooking for 8 to 10 minutes.
  3. 3.Spread the sweet pepper jam on 4 of the bread slices and garnish with the Swiss cheese, ham and spinach or arugula.
  4. 4.Top the sandwiches with the remaining bread slices.
  5. 5.Butter the outside of each sandwich and brown in a pan over medium heat for 4 to 5 minutes on each side.
  6. 6.Slice each sandwich in two and serve with salad or soup.
