Korean BBQ style pork shoulder boneless roast

  • 1 (1 kg) Pork shoulder boneless roast
  • 1 tbsp. of sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp. of miso paste
  • 2 tbsp. of tomato paste
  • ½ c. of brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp. of fish sauce
  • 2 cloves of garlic, mashed
  • 1-inch piece of fresh ginger
  • 1 tsp. of salt


  1. 1.Mix all marinade ingredients thoroughly.
  2. 2.Going against the grain of the meat, slice the pork roast into four equal portions.
  3. 3.Coat all pork pieces thoroughly with the marinade.
  4. 4.Leave to marinate in a sealed container and refrigerated for 6 to 8 hours.
  5. 5.Preheat the oven to 300°F or the barbecue to low heat.
  6. 6.Wrap each pork piece in aluminum foil.
  7. 7.Oven: Place the foil-wrapped pork in an oven-safe dish. BBQ: Place the foil-wrapped pork on the upper rack. Cook for 3½ – 4 hours.
  8. 8.SLOW COOKER Steps 1, 2, 3 and 4 remains the same. Place the meat in the slow cooker.
  9. 9.Add 1 ½ cup of chicken or vegetable broth or water.
  10. 10.Ste the corckpot at low temperature and cook for 8 hours.


Serving Ideas: 1 - Serve in a leaf of Boston lettuce with sushi rice, julienned Asian pear and minced green onion. 2 - Sushi rice and Chinese broccoli, broccolini or bok choy.
